For Christ in the heart of Charlotte, First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte was organized at its present location in 1821 and the first church building was dedicated in 1823.

Some of the most important events in the Queen City’s long life have taken place at the church. Among them are the 50th anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and four meetings of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S. (1864, 1897, 1920 and 1958).

As the oldest faith organization in existence in the same location in Charlotte, First Presbyterian Church is located at 200 West Trade Street in the center of uptown Charlotte. The church includes a Ben Long fresco in the Church Fellowship Hall.
