Southeast Center for Arts Integration

We foster the creation, dissemination, evaluation and improvement of arts integration programs. We provide information and experiences to teachers and teaching artists that empower them to engage their students in learning curricular content for the twenty-first century and beyond.

We offer participatory workshops for educators. Our facilitators lead teachers through arts-integrated experiences that successfully teach curricular content to real public school students. These classroom-tested, arts-integration practices are geared for teachers who think of themselves as "not artistic"--they build on the strengths that classroom teachers already have. Teachers learn how to manage arts supplies and musical instruments effectively, how to lead movement in the classroom safely, how to lead dramatic activities so students approach them seriously, and how to make direct connections between the arts and the core curriculum.

Teachers collaborate to create integrated lesson plans that are based on curricular objectives. They comprehend the connections between engaging multiple intelligences; fostering 21st century skills like creative and critical thinking, collaborating, and communicating; teaching with brain research in mind; and climbing to the top of Bloom's Taxonomy.
