Mithila Art, also known as Madhubani Art, is an ancient Indian art form that hails from Mithila region in Bihar (India) adjoining Nepal. It is a 2-dimensional art that depicts people with bulging eyes and sharp noses. The intricacy and the beauty of this art is the details that can be seen in the background. Symbols and motifs are often used in this art and have their own significance. Sun and moon represent long life. Peacock is a symbol of love and calmness. Lotus denotes good luck, and the bamboo denotes future progeny.
