A Musical Timepiece

Saturday, June 11, 2022 @ 7:00pm
St. John's Baptist Church
Presented by Charlotte Chorale, Inc.

From Bach to Rock and every kind of music in between! Travel through this musical timepiece with us! There is music for everyone!

Travel through this musical timepiece with us as we present how the beat, style and lyrics of music has developed over the years.

From Classical to Country, and everything in between, this fun show has music for everyone. Mozart was masterful at creating elegant and balanced lines as we showcase in “Jubilate” and “Ave Verum”. You’ll hear the emotional intensity in Spirituals with “When The Trumpet Sounds” as it reflects suffering and the longing for salvation. The intricate harmonies wind its way through the jazz era as we present the popular standard “Satin Doll”. Needing to forget their troubles, the swing era ushered in toe tapping hits like “Sing, Sing, Sing”.

Country music is built upon spiritual music and its basis is using a story to build a song which you’ll hear in “Country Roads Take Me Home” and “I Will Always Love You”. With the introduction of electricity and amplification, music genres such as soul, pop and rock were amped up as you’ll experience with “The Glory of Love” and “Soul Man”. Join us for an evening of amazing music!
