Nature and Art Cyanotypes
Sugaw Creek/MLK Recreation Center
Presented by The Light Factory Photo Arts Center
This Program’s dates are: April 5, 19 May 3, 17 June 7, 21
Audience: Seniors
Time: 11-1pm
This program starts with a nature walk to collect plant specimens. The group will then discuss and describe the materials they have collected. The plant specimens will then be used as the subject in Cyanotype images.
The Cyanotype is one of the earliest forms of photography, which uses only light-sensitive paper (or fabric) and sunlight. Students will receive a fun, hands-on approach to understanding light by creating their own individual sun print—or cyanotype.
In the 6 sessions the focus will be botanicals and Cyanotype. The program will evolve to include flower pressing, Cyanotype on fabric, and adding water color paint. The participants can join for any of or every sessions and leave with a complete Cyanotype artwork.
Sponsored by Culture Blocks - a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
