Capoeira Saturdays Youth Series is an intro-class series offered by the Queen City GINGA Project for kids aged 4-11 years old as part of the Arts & Science Council Culture Blocks program.
Saturday, May 22nd -June 5th
(Classes 5/22, 5/29, & 6/5)
10AM-11AM
Ages 4-11 years old
Participants will be exposed to the fundamental movements and elements of capoeira including learning about the history and culture of the art form. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines music, dance, acrobatics, and dance developed by Enslaved Africans and Indigenous peoples. This unique art form is the only martial art where men, women, and children compete together to rhythmic sounds.

The QC GINGA Project is sponsored by Culture Blocks — a community partnership between ASC, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation to bring arts and cultural experiences closer to where residents live. Culture Blocks is funded by Mecklenburg County.
