Adult Art Workshops

Saturday, April 11 through Saturday, May 16
The Bridge
Presented by Arts+

During this series of FREE Adult Workshops, we will be exploring various skills, techniques, materials and studio practices each focused on a different theme. Each workshop will be designed and led by a practicing artist and will delve into their process, interests and artistic journey. Please check our website for artists and themes to be announced.

Bits and Pieces : Saturday, February 22nd 10am - 4pm, 1 hour provided for lunch

Come join Arts+ staff, Jason Watson and Caroline Tippette, as they create strange and wacky shadowbox dioramas in miniature. During this FREE 5 hour workshop, participants will use traditional and very unconventional materials to create art on a smaller scale. Participants will learn how to incorporate whimsy and the joy of discovery into tiny scenes from their imagination. Play with scale model furniture, air clay techniques, and funky found objects to arrange a surreal miniature environment like the I SPY books of the 90s.

Join our group and explore new and old techniques in a free-form experimental environment! No prior advanced knowledge is required, but a willingness to try new materials and have fun is strongly encouraged. One hour will be provided for lunch. Feel free to bring a bag lunch, snacks to share, or head out to grab a bite. Our location is conveniently located beside the Sugar Creek Lynx Blue Line station, 1 stop from NoDa.

Kitchen Table Printmaking with Diane Podolsky : Saturday, March 14th 10am - 4pm, 1 hour provided for lunch

Explore printmaking without a press. No space? No equipment? No problem! During this FREE five hour workshop, participants will learn some tried and true but unconventional printmaking techniques to make their mark on paper. Whether your interest is in making original works of art or unique paper goods, these techniques will transfer easily to your kitchen or home studio. For both seasoned printmakers who want to freshen up their skills as well as novices new to the medium, all are welcome in this exploratory workshop. Join us for a day of fun and ink!

Artist Biography:

Diane Podolsky is a printmaker and book artist who has worked in the visual arts field professionally for over 30 years. She has worn many hats including exhibiting artist, teaching artist, arts administrator, gallery manager, curator, juror, and if there is anything else possible to do in this crazy field, she is fairly sure she has done that as well. Diane has been fortunate to have taught printmaking as an artist in residence and faculty member for some fine museums and organizations and to have her work included in museum, library, corporate, and private collections.
