It Happened Here: The Charlotte Remembrance Project

Wednesday, May 8, 2019 @ 6:00pm
Levine Museum of the New South

Join us for an interactive dialogue about the story behind our Legacy of Lynching exhibit, Mecklenburg County’s documented lynchings, and the journey of bringing a memorial for these tragic events to Charlotte.

On May 8th, meet members of The Charlotte Remembrance Project, a group of organizations in Charlotte working to establish a monument for the Lynchings that occurred in Mecklenburg county. Come hear about their trip to the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, AL and their local efforts to acknowledge our often unacknowledged history.

This event is free and open to the public. However, we still ask that you pre-register using the link provided.

There will be light refreshments and a cash bar. Doors open at 5:30.
