About Urban Musical Theatre
Urban Musical Theatre is a dynamic Black theatre organization founded and led by an all-Black, all-female leadership team. We are dedicated to empowering artists of color and championing authentic Black stories. Guided by our mission—“To create, train, develop, nurture, and sustain a world-class professional theatre rooted in the Black theatre experience”—we offer comprehensive training, professional development, and artistic opportunities that cultivate excellence. Through our innovative productions, workshops, and community initiatives, we celebrate the richness of Black culture, advance racial equity, and inspire audiences to embrace diverse voices and perspectives. Our work seeks not only to entertain, but to educate, unify, and elevate the performing arts landscape for generations to come.
