Sensory-Based Exploration for Preschoolers and Their Caregivers
Wing Haven
This program is made possible by a collaboration with Rise Kids Therapy and Wellness facilitators Abbey Wash, MOT/OTR/L & Kerry MacDonald, MS, OTR/L.
Join us for guided play in the SEED Wildlife & Children’s Garden as we explore the impact that different sensations have on self-regulation and emotional development of preschoolers.
Led by two pediatric occupational therapists, this group will encourage exploration of our sensory systems’ responses to the world around us. Preschoolers very naturally have big emotions and rapidly changing energy levels. Caregivers will learn the neuroscience behind this as well as practice new, intentional language to discuss emotions with their children. Preschoolers will develop improved self-awareness as they are inspired and energized by the natural environment.
Classes are every Monday during the six-week workshop, 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the SEED Wildlife Garden.
Dates for each class of this workshop are as follows:
- Sept. 9
- Sept. 16
- Sept. 23
- Sept. 30
- Oct. 7
- Oct. 14
Rain dates: October 21 and 28
