Poetry Nightclub

Charlotte Lit’s Poetry Nightclub is fun way to engage with the world’s oldest form of storytelling. Featuring acclaimed poets from across the nation, each event is a unique and compelling experience that goes beyond traditional reading and book signing events. Tickets include your first drink! The featured poet for December 1 is Sandra Beasley, with special guest poet Cedric Tillman. 

Beasley is the author of Made to Explode, winner of the Housatonic Book Award; Count the Waves; I Was the Jukebox, winner of the Barnard Women Poets Prize; Theories of Falling, winner of the New Issues Poetry Prize; and Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life. 

Tillman's poems have appeared in several journals and anthologies including RHINO, Pleiades, Barzakh Magazine, Solstice Literary Magazine, Manhattanville Review, and Home Is Where: An Anthology of African American Poets from the Carolinas. His debut collection, Lilies in the Valley, was published by Willow Books in 2013. His latest offering, In My Feelins, was published by WordTech in 2019.
