Black Women Behind the Lens: Panel & Analysis
Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture at Levine Center for the Arts
Join the kickoff to CR8:BLK Black Women Cinema Week (BWCW 2023) with a collective reflection on the impact of Black women behind the lens in history, juxtaposed and complemented by the work of contemporary and local Black women directors, cinematographers, and photographers.
This program will be led by a panel of award-winning Black women in film and photography, including Kameishia Wooten, Rebekah Ofori, Claudia Owusu, and others. Included in the program are clips from BWCW 2023 featured films, iconic Black-women-directed films and photography, and a review of our featured exhibition, Sight Unseen.
This experience is perfect for photographers and filmmakers of all levels, ages, identifications, and backgrounds to connect and share. Film and photography lovers are especially encouraged to join us and participate in this reflective conversation.
Also, join us on Thursday evening, November 30, for a special screening of several of the film festival's selections in MODA, our digital arts studio.
