Family First: Women's History-Inspired

The entire family can celebrate Women's History Month with this hands-on art workshop! Created and led by teaching artist Franchone Bey, the workshop is titled Creating Art from Poetry: Making Visual Representations of Popular African American Female Poetry.

A poet creates images in the minds of the reader with their inventive choice of words. Poems can evoke a mood and vision by appealing to the five senses. In this session, participants will create visual representations of poems by making a collage or special artwork that captures how it makes them feel. We will use the amazing words of poets like Maya Angelou to create the artwork. Families can create a collective or individual piece of artwork.

All supplies are included in the workshop, open to ages 6 and up.

Family First is presented by Novant Health
