Community Movement Classes
Movement Migration teaching artists will teach biweekly one-hour classes every Monday and Friday to seniors and adults for six weeks beginning on April 11th and ending on May 20th at the Waymer Recreation Center (14008 Holbrooks Road Huntersville, NC 2807). Participants will have the opportunity to experience different movement practices: modern dance, ballet, yoga, and somatics (an approach that focuses on mind-body awareness) taught by professional dancers/educators who are well-respected nationally and internationally in the field of dance and higher education.
The teaching artists will end the program with a lecture demonstration. It will include the performing artists demonstrating a short movement phrase that embodies their genre of expertise and will give the viewer an inside look at different approaches of performative aspects in dance. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a Question and Answer session.
Sponsored by Culture Blocks, a community partnership funded by Mecklenburg County.
