Guided Garden Tours
Historic Rosedale
Historic Rosedale, Guided Garden Tours
Today, the Rosedale house sits on almost nine acres of formal gardens, greenspace, and tree canopy; a landscape distinguished by five generations of previous residents. For much of its history, the Rosedale property was primarily used in a utilitarian manner. At that time, hundreds of acres provided food for those living on the property, and timbering provided income. Today we see how they left their mark; an environment of beauty and pleasure surrounded in history. From boxwoods planted when the house was completed in 1815, to garlic that still sprouts from one hundred years ago, to the blooming of Mrs. Davidson's favorite rambling rose, to an abundance of Treasure Trees, we’ll explore the charm of the grounds. Tours will be led by Head Gardner Elizabeth Medaris Myers or Rosedale Garden Advisor, Dr Larry Mellichamp.
Tours are limited to 15 and will last approximately one hours. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Reservations are required and please bring proof of registration via your phone or a printed copy of your ticket(s). Event will take place rain or shine. No refunds.
