Adult Art Workshop: Mexican Amate Painting

Sunday, June 27, 2021 @ 1:00pm
Presented by Arts+
This is a virtual event taking place online. Check below for details on how to access and/or register.

In this 3 hour, online workshop, participants will explore the traditional Mexican folk art of amate paintings. This artistic practice dates back to Mesoamerican times! Many Aztec codices were made on amate paper. Amate paintings traditionally feature native plants and animals or scenes of everyday life. Explore nature’s bright, vivid imagery through this unique art-making process and create your own masterpiece on traditional bark paper. No previous skills or experience required.

All supplies will be included and mailed to participants the week prior to the workshop.

Registration deadline: June 18 by 5:00 p.m.

Please make sure your address is accurate and you can receive packages at the given address.

Since this is a free event with limited capacity please do not sign up if you are unsure of your ability to participate due to schedule issues.
