New South for the New Southerner: Decoding Charlotte Murals

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 @ 6:00pm
Levine Museum of the New South

Have you noticed? Charlotte is a-bloom with murals!

Meet Mike Wirth Art, mild-mannered Queens U art professor by day, professional artist and co-leader of the Talking Walls Mural festival (which recently added 16 murals to the city's outdoor art scene) by night.

At April's New South for the New Southerner, Mike will show-and-tell about Charlotte murals and the history of the art form and introduce the Southern Tiger Collective - an alliance of local painters who’ve come to Charlotte from as far away as Colombia, South America!

Hosted by community historian Dr. Tom Hanchett, the event will also feature a Southern buffet dinner by Mert's Heart & Soul.

Each program is $15 for non-members (25% discount for members) and includes program, a Southern chicken dinner from Mert’s Heart and Soul, and a cash bar. Space is limited, reservations required.
