Feast of The Hunter's Moon
Historic Rosedale Plantation
Slow down…….step back. Take a deep breath and think about a slower pace.
Just for a minute….step back in time, turn off your cell phone and put down your tablet.
To arrive at Rosedale you must travel up the trading path of North Tryon which runs directly through the property. Once you set foot onto the grounds, the ambiance invites you to embark on an evening of the senses with a dining experience as it may have taken place in the mid 1800’s.
As you enjoy the open bar and butlered canapés on the lawn under ancient trees surrounded by our famous 200 year-old English Boxwood, aromas will waft through the air. You will be called to dinner and seated at a candlelit table on the main floor of Rosedale. China and crystal will glisten just as it did in the 19th century. Guests will experience the finest of an Antebellum style dinner with five exceptional courses, each with paired wine, and finished with a regional dessert.
As society returns to a greater appreciation of our agrarian roots and local cuisine, there is a unique window for Historic Rosedale to recapture the essence of the finer culinary delights of a Carolina plantation in the 1800’s. There are many farm to tables dinners but very few can compete with the dining experience inside the 200 year old home by candlelight which is sure to be a night to remember.
Katie Charlebois, Event Chair states,”
Deborah Hunter, Executive Director says, “What I believe is that our Feast of the Hunter’s Moon dinner transcends the current farm to table trend and recaptures an entire era of a truly elegant yet casual dining experience.”
There will only be seats for 70 patrons in the house. This will be a rare experience for each and every dinner guest as this event is the only time during the year the house hosts a dinner event and food is allowed in the home.
Invitations are being mailed to our friends and supporters with rsvp cards. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.historicrosdale.org for $165.00 each. Corporate tables with premier seating are available at $2,500.
Historic Rosedale Plantation’s Antebellum dinner, “Feast of the Hunter’s Moon” has adopted the Native American name for the full moon closest to the Harvest Moon. The abundant natural moonlight in the fall of the year was ideal for Native Americans as they hunted to stockpile food for the oncoming winter.
