The Fun and Challenges of Painting Crystal
Mint Hill Arts Center
Sharron Burns, a noted watercolorist who has studied and exhibited world-wide and who now lives in Mint Hill, will be the featured speaker at the July meeting of Mint Hill Arts. Burns is a contemporary still life painter. Her works reflect her love of still life subjects plus crystal and glass which she depicts with the crispness, freshness and transparency of watercolors. She says that she “enjoys exploring the diffused facets, light reflections and clarity of glass and crystal combined with nature’s abundance.” Accordingly, the title of her lecture/demonstration is, “The Fun and Challenges of Painting Crystal.” Burns, a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a degree in Fine Arts, began exhibiting her art by winning a “Best in Show” in Haleiwa, Hawaii. Her series of mandala drawings and paintings was featured in a one woman show in Geneva, Illinois and a feature article in the Chicago Beacon News. Locally, she has exhibited with the Silver Brush Society, Charlotte Artists Society, Matthews Art Guild, Guild of Charlotte Artists, and Nancy Couick Studios and Gallery in Charlotte. She has won numerous awards in local shows and is the past president of the Charlotte Artists Society. She is also a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and a member of the American Watercolor Society. Burns’ presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, at the Mint Hill Arts gallery at 11205 Lawyers Road in Mint Hill. The program is free and the public is invited to attend.
