What Happened Here? An Urban Bike Tour and History Talk
Beginning and ending at Five Points Plaza in the Historic West End, participants will cycle through several west side neighborhoods and through Uptown. Our purpose is to discuss the development and neighborhood building patterns of the city, with special attention to the historic events and architectural features that have created segregated neighborhoods. Along the way, participants will be met by former residents of the historic Brooklyn and Third Ward neighborhoods, and will hear their stories from those historic places that were demolished during Urban Renewal.
Participants should plan to bring a bicycle in good working order and a helmet. Helmets are required. Contact the organizer if you have needs around the cycling element of this event. The full ride will be friendly for most ages. It consists of a 5.5 mile loop riding in city streets and on a greenway.
