Nov 4th:

ART: 5 senses in color theory 11-12pm, By training ourselves to focus on each of our senses we get a better understanding of our environment and how to take where we are and use the energy wither it be positive or negative, into a creative outlet and positive energy; not only making ourselves more empowered and uplifted but the area around us as well through art.

MUSIC: Guitar/Melodies and songwriting 12:30-1:30pm, Learn how to play guitar chords to fill your space with music and vibes. Learn how to construct a melody and apply it to lyrics.


Dec 2nd:

ART: Make your own scarves and ornaments! 11-12pm, It's the Holiday season! No matter what you celebrate, come express yourself on your very own ornaments and/or scarf to keep you warm and be uniquely you this winter!

MUSIC: The Science of 16 Bars 12:30-1:30pm, Participants will be introduced to rhythmic writing through rap music, learn how to write a rap song!


Jan 6th:

ART: Figure drawing - your favorite feature 11-12pm, We will be learning how to easily draw body figures and then focus on our favorite features to celebrate our differences and the beauty of ourselves! Is your favorite feature your eyes, hands, cheeks, hips? Learn how to draw the human body in this easy and fun workshop!

Feb 3rd:

ART: Black History Portraits  11-12pm, Join us in this celebration of great Historical Figures within the black community. Step by step process of drawing some of the most inspirational people in our history!

MUSIC: Chorus (Breathing, Control, Pitch, Diction & Tonality) 12:30-1:30pm, Learn how to sing! Singing lessons not only teach you how to sing they also teach confidence and to speak with certainty helping you in the world to gain respect and growth!


March 3rd:

ART: Vision Boards 11-12pm, This fun for all ages art workshop encompasses 3 different stages in life: youth: who you want to be, adult: who you are (affirmation of self) and elderly: pearls of wisdom.

MUSIC: DJ class - Learn how to use turntables! HipHop 12:30-1:30pm, HipHop is a deep root in African American culture - come learn how to mix and scratch like a DJ and how it all got started!


April 7th:

ART: Bottled up project painting bottles/poetry 11-12pm, Is there anything you are keeping bottled up? Come let it out in this fun art workshop mixing poetry where we will let go of frustration!

MUSIC: 12:30-1:30pm Improv and Freestyle Jam - How to express yourself through flow, By working with several different music instruments and working with singers, musicians, poets and rappers, participants of this workshop will learn how to freestyle in a group and how to let the melody, rhythm, song and words move you to express yourself! 


May 5th:

ART: PSA Collab Mural - addressing issues in neighborhoods 11-12pm, Every neighborhood has challenges and ways to improve, what's going on in your neighborhood? In this workshop we will address problems we face as a community and create solutions expressed through mural style artwork as a collaboration aiming to get displayed in West Blvd Area.

MUSIC:  Afro-Cuban Percussion 12:30-1:30pm, Come learn how to make Afro-Cuban beats, what kind of drums are used, and about the culture!


June 2nd:

ART: African American writing workshop 11-12pm, a celebration and an expression of the African American community, learn how to write your thoughts, feelings and testimony as poetry.

MUSIC: Drum Circle with collab from arts/writing  class 12:30-1:30pm, poems and words made from the previous art class on African American writing will be joining hand drummers in a drum circle outside the library (or in courtyard) and chanting/speaking their poetry during the drum circle as a celebration of African American life and expression
